Free Crochet Pattern - 5 Petal Crochet Flower

Chi Wei from One Dog Woof  has posted a wonderful free pattern for a crochet flower on her website.

In her own words "When I was making hats for my craft fair, I discovered that I tended toward boyish or at the very least, gender neutral hat colors and designs.  ...... I'm not a (very) girlie girl, and you won't ever catch me with a hot pink hat. ..... I like having options available for those last minute mood-dependent decisions.  I decided to make (and sell) crocheted flower pins that can be pinned to a hat (or not), so you can mix and match flower and hat colors.

I couldn't find a flower pattern that I loved, so I made up my own.  These little flowers are quick and easy to make, and can brighten up any outfit.  Or group them together for some springtime cheer!  "

Crochet bikinis make a comeback

Crochet bikinis make a comeback?  OK I saw this and thought someone was having a joke ... but apparently it is back to the 70's on the Gold Coast.
Swimming in them ???? hmmmmm I think that is another story.

CHLOE Dunlop is spearheading a group of Gold Coast Generation Y hippies who are reliving the seventies.

The swimwear designer is part of a community who have brought back the golden era by shooting through vintage film cameras, riding retro single-fin surfboards, wearing pre-loved clothes and listening to their dad's Jimi Hendrix vinyls.

But a reincarnation of the Gold Coast in the '70s would not be complete without beach babes soaking up the sun in crochet bikinis.

Today, Ms Dunlop fills that nostalgic gap as she launches her new crochet swimwear line She Made Me. Read more ......

Apparently they sell for around $100 ... and NO! I will not be modelling one, any time soon.  But if you want to revisit the 1970's  you can check out the article above and buy one, or ...

You could make one!

Whatever you do have fun,
even if it is
just a bit of nostalgia for grandma LOL!

Knitting with the Roller Derby Girls in Minneapolis

Roller Derby GirlsDo you think you have to be a little rough around the edges to hang out with the Minnesota Roller Derby Girls (MNRG)?
Think again.
Many have a much softer side and that involves knitting. So if you are a MNRG fan, you can catch up with them each month at Crafty Planet, a local fabric shop located in Northeast Minneapolis, where they hold a monthly knitting session for charity.
Knitting for charity with the Roller Derby Girls started in 2004 when Roller Girl, Norah Torious' mother was diagnosed with cancer and had to go through chemo. Norah decided to knit her mother a hat. Other crafty people in the league thought making soft, warm hats on a regular basis was a good way to help other cancer patients.
Every month during their home season, the Roller Derby Girls gather with other knitters at Crafty Planet to make hats for charity. Once completed, they attach a tag identifying that the cap was knit by fans of the Minnesota Roller Girls. Hats are then sorted into two groups: those soft enough for cancer patients are donated to the Fuel Your Fight Foundation and hats that are not are given to the St. Paul Salvation Army. read more .....
